Brown Field Ant

Brown Field Ant

The queen is almost 6 mm, and the male workers were about 3 mm long, they have a color of a light brown to medium brown.

The brown ants feed on dead or live insects, flower nectar, but have a preference for the honeydew produced by other insects such as aphids.

The brown ants live in mineral soil (sand, silt, etc. …). They come into our houses to find food, preferably sweet. Their presence in abundance in the grass, is a good indicator of the condition of your lawn.

The queen and the males typically mate in late summer early fall.
